ARIZ (General Review)
The Algorithm for Inventive Problem Solving (ARIZ) is one of the main TRIZ problem-solving tools for resolution of very complex and difficult problems. ARIZ is a step by step guide for thinking and simplifying the problem, it consists of a set of clear rules rooted on the Laws of Technical System Evolution. ARIZ helps to overcome all preconceived notions in a field of a problem formulation and possible ways of solving. ARIZ’s steps change a problem, help one approach closer the heart of a problem, the physical/technical contradiction, and then eliminate it, therefore resolve the problem. ARIZ has also steps for further improvement of obtained solutions.
First, one should analyze the technical system where one wants to improve something and define a problem that is worth solving. One should imagine the Ideal System. One should seek to improve one's system without any complication of it or deterioration of anything in the system. The only way to obtain the Ideal Solution is to use the resources of the system that can be figure out by another TRIZ tool. Often, something prevents one from reaching the Ideal Solution, or improvement of something in the system causes the deterioration of something else. Sacrifice is common, but not in problem-solving by using TRIZ. One has to define the technical and/or physical contradictions connected with reaching the Ideal Solution of the chosen problem without any compromise, and then to eliminate the contradiction using TRIZ tools or the resources of the system. ARIZ has adapted also the natural sciences knowledge to the problem - solving .
According to ARIZ it is not necessary to generate as many ideas as possible and then select the best one. It is enough to reach the only the Ideal Solution.
ARIZ has proven to be the most effective method in complex problem solving not only in technical but in any field. It is possible because of the similar laws of evolution of systems of different fields of human activity.
