Unfortunately translations of TRIZ are not always perfect, so extra-effects (developed about 10 years ago) and super-effects (concept still in research phase) were presented by one name. The following definitions should distinguish them:

Extra-Effect: An unplanned additional benefit resulting from improvement of the original problem that appears due to TRIZ solution.

Super-Effect: An unplanned additional benefit resulting from interactions of useful or neutral and harmful functions of a technique that appears due to TRIZ solution.

The additional information about extra- and super-effects available for the Virtual TRIZ College Students.
