The Altshuller's contradictions Matrix (1969) catalogues the engineering parameters on the X-axis (undesired secondary effect) and Y-axis (feature to improve). The Matrix was developed from the huge analysis of patents basically in the mechanical engineering. The matrix's cells (1521 except diagonal) contain a few principles which should be considered for improvements of one the engineering parameter without degradation of another one. For example, the intersection Weight of moving object (the first parameter) versus Productivity (the last parameter) refer us to the principles # 20, 24, 26 and 34 as appropriate concepts to build up solutions.

The additional  cells in TRIZ Matrix appeared after 1969, so the modern extended contradiction Matrix covers more wide spectra of engineering fields
